Important Travel Information

We have seen that Cinto Cloud Forest is best suited for the traveler that truly likes to explore and enjoy nature, and are open to new friends. The visitors that most enjoy this place are those willing to leave urban life behind temporarily and just enjoy the moment. This is a place where you will listen to yourself. Partly, because there are no electronical or urban distractions. We are very proud of that. Please ask us questions.

The average temperature in this Cinto River watershed region is about 83°C during the day, and 74°C at night. The water supply in the lodgings is spring-born with a refreshing temperature. We are fortunate that there is no need of regulating for hot water or that there is any centralized power supply system in the entire region. Like everyone in this region we presently obtain our electrical needs through a generator. The goal of Cinto Cloud Forest is to obtain our full energy needs through solar power, combined with hydroelectricity from our springs, by 2012. We have mosquito nets for all the beds. We still encourage you to bring your own bio-degradable mosquito repellant or start taking Vitamin B complex a few days before arrival. Our mission is to provide a rejuvenating experience, and it just may be possible when you are this close to nature living in an eco-sustainable environment surrounded by good-natured families. We are waiting for the explorer in you.

What to bring

If your arrival is during the rainy season bring a light raincoat and your own rubber boots. The Town of Mindo sells them for about $7. We also have boots for our guests, but cannot guarantee all sizes are available for all. Outside the rainy season, a good pair of hiking shoes is enough.

The following are items for you to bring at any time:

*Intake of vitamin B one week before arrival, or mosquito repellant (preferably natural, non-toxic).
-Binoculars and camera.
-A couple of comfortable long slacks and shirts.
-One or two sweatpants (for hanging out at night) and sweatshirts (for sleeping).
-Cash, since there are no ATM machines in the Town of Mindo or in a 40-mile radius, until reaching Mitad Del Mundo/San Antonio suburb area (towards Quito), or the Town of Pedro Vicente Maldonado (towards the Coast).
-Water bottle containers (we have the mineral-rich water), hat/cap, sunglasses, a flashlight (not really necessary, we have them), spare batteries (ditto) and a small bag or backpack (for a bottle and cameras).
-Sandals, shorts (if you want to) and journal/pencil.
-A light towel and snacks.

(All non-biodegradables must go with you when you leave the Lodge)
